Default iac question

yesterday while my buddy was welding up my new exhaust i decided to take off my throttle body and clean it along with my iac valve....i thought i had read somewhere that the iac should move in and out easily..mine seemed a little stiff and although it did move in and out, it wasn't without a little bit of pressing/pulling...wanted to get some advice..time to replace? i'm not having any idle problems..i normally idle about 900 rpms

That sounds about right. If your not having any problems, I'd just clean it, don't forget to clean where it seats up too.

Mine idle's at 750RPM. I do believe that 750 is the normal range to run at, where as 900 - 1200 would be warm up idle. Both my v8, and my gf's v6 idle at the same RPM. I'd say clean it, if that doesn't fix it, replace it.

so 900 is a little high huh?..one more question..when i first start the engine, the idle revs up for a second or two, some where around 1200 or so, i don't know exactly i'm just remembering the sound it makes, then it falls down to 900...is this initial high idle common or is that also something i should address?

update...i went out and cranked the dak up and sure enough it idles about 700 or so, after a spike up to 900 rpms....looks like the throttle body and iac cleaning dropped my idle a couple hundred rpms...good stuff

I'm pretty sure the initial rev up is normal. Every fuel injected vehicle I've owned has done it
