Default Start, but no run. Eratic tach. Code 14, 21, 22.

Went to fire up the truck, and it started, but died. Tried again, same thing. Got CEL. And the tach is jumping around like crazy.
Codes....
14-MAP sensor output voltage outside the acceptable range (too low or too high)
21-02s sensor does not detect rich or lean condition (signal stays at center)
22-Engine coolant temp sensor signal outside the acceptable range

And now I'm only getting the code 14.

Computer? Wiring? WTH?

Update... Just went out and drove it. Tach started working again, but running a little funny. Still getting the code 14. I'm going to try and test my MAP sensor. See if that's the culprit.

A bad MAP sensor can cause your problems. Most autoparts stores can test them for free if you need.

Ok, I went to get a hand vac pump so I could test myself, but they wanted 40 bucks for one. I'm going to see if I can find one cheaper.

I think what happened is my dad came up for a visit in his '70 vette. He ended up having a bad battery yesterday morning, so I gave him a jump. I think it sent a electrical surge through the truck. Frying my map sensor, and causing those other codes. Is this possible? Can't think of what else would have caused those three codes.

It was the MAP. $65 berg warner from OReilleys. At least it was made in the USA! I don't think I'll ever give anyone a jump start again. Not if it cost's me a sensor lol

Ouch...
I usually pull over and jump anyone who needs it lol

Glad you found the fix relatively easy though.

I know, it really bugs me. Never had a vehicle with such a temperamental computer. I love my truck, but I don't know if I could buy another chrysler. :/
