Default 93 dakota won't start - no spark

I am trying to help my nephew with a 93 dakota 318 2 wd that won't start. Running normally and would not start one morning. We replaced the coil because of no spark. We have voltage at the coil. It has a sync signal generator in the distributor, but no way to test that I can find. Based on odor, we have fuel when cranking, but no officail test. Only a 12 and 55 trouble codes which appear to be normal codes. Any ideas before we throw more money at it?

Not sure, because you have voltage at coil, but I'd look into the notorious splice described in the FAQ. You'll have better luck posting in the tech forum. This is for non tech discussions

Thanks for the response. I had been out here before and thought I was on the tech site. Sorry for the clutter. I will try the wire splice.
