2wd Coil size Is 2nd gen different than 1st gen?
So, I bought spacers on eBay. Looked reputable. They had an 87-96 listing and a 97-04 listing.
I accidentally got the the 97+ spacer, but when I contacted the seller they said it was all the same. Is this true?
The Inside Diameter of my coil is 3.6875, outside is 5.25 and it is clearly too small for the spacer. Sigh.
If this can't be solves with a spacer, I was wondering if anyone knows where to get a 2.5" lift coil or if anyone has had luck getting custom springs from eibach.
Thanks, this is frustrating.

If it is the rubber spacers they can bend to fit different size coils. Stretch it out to fit. Use electrical tape to hold it on the coil until it is installed.
Most of ebay stuff is universal so don't worry about the year difference. They only put years so people can get suckered in to buy it thinking it is a direct fit. Also most people will never see it if it is not listed for their vehicle.

Here is what I got:

Are these supposed to just sit in there or do they need to be pressed on. I'm afraid to crack the aluminum.

Would these fit in the event that these spacers are wrong?

It looks like it almost can fit, like you said just a little more pressure but it might brake. I suggest to send it back. And say it is to big and you didn't install it. If the same seller has the 1st gen coil springs get the correct ones. As for the other coil no I don't think it will work.
I say get your money back. I suggest to get 2 of these, one on top one on the bottom. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/GLS-2011/

Update:
I returned the coil spacers. I went to my mechanic who helped to build my 4Runner and I put him to work.
He determined that the stock coil is enough trouble to get in as is. So, he created a custom coil compressor to fit inside the coil and scrunch it up to squeeze in a spacer. Sounds like it wouldn't have been easy otherwise.
He noticed that the stock coil on it's own has a tendency to bow out and gets close to the shock, so he devised a spacer to fix this.
The spacer is bigger on one side than the other and provides about 2"-2.5" of lift and actually keeps the coil straighter than stock. My truck now sits dead level with the 1.5" lifted rear. Looks good.
The ride is a little firmer, but I assume that is just what happened when you add spacers.
Looks like custom was the only way to get it done for me.
