Well if you want real power buy a v8, but if your poor like me there are a few options. Since you redid your exhaust that sorta helped, getting new plug wires and cap and rotor helped, with mine at least I also bought three pcm and found out they all aren't exactly tune and shift the same so you can play with that. Just a regular tune up goes far with these trucks, but if you wanted to be created I have seen people throw a turbo on the 3.9L. What else have you done to it?

all i have done was the flowmaster 40 and k&n air filter and changed the timeing around some thats about it i just want it 2 sound good and i would go with the v8 for dodge the 3.9 (v6 239ci) and the 5.8 (v8 318ci) both have the same bore stroke and power so im going to stay with the v6

The 5.2L 318 V8 does have more power then the V6 and there is alot more available for it in terms of engine mods.

Honestly if you want the power a V8 is a step in the right direction.

That is faulty. The 3.9 lists as 175@4800 HP & 230@3200 TQ while the 5.2 is 220@4400 HP & 300@3200 TQ.

The 3.9 is a hacked down 5.2, so you are losing that much power. The 5.2 is infinitely more upgradable also. But if you want to stick with the 3.9 you should look at forced induction to truly get power.

You did not change the timing, you changed the fuel sync, well done

The timing is computer controlled, moving the distributor only changes the fuel sync.

ya i will stick with the v6 im going to build it up and make it carbed and get rid of this computer bs because i hate it and with the fuel sync moveing the timing should have nothing to do with it the fuel sync sould be with the crankshaft position sencer not the distributor

Having previously owned a 93 v6 (which btw, 1987-1991 - 3.9L (238ci) LA V6, 125hp, 1992-1993 - 3.9L (238 ci) Magnum V6, 180hp, 1994-1996 - 3.9L (238 ci) Magnum V6, 175hp) and a 93 v8 (1991 - 5.2L (318 ci) LA V8, 170hp, 1991-1993 - 5.2L (318 ci) Magnum V8, 230hp, 1994-1996 - 5.2L (318 ci) Magnum V8, 225hp), I would say by far, going with a v8 is your best option. If your planning on actually going through with the carb swap, it would be ten times easier to swap out the 6 for an 8. Find a cheap donor truck to yank the motor, trans and everything else you will need and drop it in. For the most part, it will be plug and play, only wiring you need to do is to add wires for the extra injectors and change the computer. You will have to change the front springs, or just lower the rear end 2 inches to compensate. Theres more info in the FAQ if you plan on the motor swap. Its your best bet!

Since swapping in a new engine isn't realistic for most of us, I'd start with a performance chip. MPG and horsepower gains were quite noticeable for me on my 3.9. Also threw in a 180 thermostat at the same time.
