Default Front Wheel bearings

1990 3.9 2WD.............my front wheel bearings started grinding so took it apart expecting to find some kind of failed issue. the bearings look in tact, after washing them in solvent when i shake them they sound like a rattle snake, does this mean there shot or is that normal. the drivers side inner seal was trash had chunks out of it. How much play, movement (side to side when hloding) should the inner ring in the bearing have if any. races all look OK.

New can rattle a little with no grease but not to much. But wheel bearings are so cheep. Replace them every time. www.autozone.com

This just happened to my truck the other day, too. Replace the bearings, don't reuse them. And if you do buy the new bearings, play it safe and replace the races, as well. Be sure to pack the grease in well

how do you get the inner race out? does not seem like you can get a drift punch on it thru the hole from the outer side............just bought new rotors 4 mos ago had new races in them they looked fine. figure i would do more damage than good!!

Are you saying that you're trying to take out the race from the new rotor?

rotors are 4 mos old should have done the bearings then but they looked good. since the races came with the new bearings i toyed with the idea of replacing them but soon realized i would do more damage than good trying to remove them and install the new ones so i passed. just curious how to get the races out if i never need to?

Ah ok, I get what you're saying. But you should be able to use a punch and hammer from the other side to knock them out. If there is no lip to bang out with the punch, then, well, I don't know what to tell ya...
