Default 94 hood latch spring

The hood release spring broke and I tried to jury rig a couple of springs but couldn't get it done. I managed to bend some radiatior fins and get totally frustrated and angry and that's about it. There aren't any junkyards nearby either. How do you replace the release (About $50) without taking the front of the truck apart? Cut a hole? Is there a replacement spring that would work? Thanks.

By memory it unblots from the top and easy to do. I will try to remember to take a look at it tomorrow. I doubt there is a replacement spring specifically for it. If you don't have any junkyards to dig threw try www.craigslist.org or www.ebay.com or www.rockauto.com or www.carparts.com

After looking through those sites I realized it is a hood release spring I need. The latch is under the dash.

So it is the spring on the hood that is bad right? If so how did you bend up some radiator fins? The hood spring is simple just unbolt the spring and latch plate. Did you try those sites to see if the have a replacement part, or even your local Dodge dealer parts department.

Not the one on the hood. Just follow the hood release latch cable. It goes into the radiator area. There are two bolts (on mine), just in front of the radiator that lets a plate come off and you can see down inside. They must have put that release in when they put the truck together.

I talked with a Chysler dealer and they will only supply the complete latch for $50. Nobody has just springs. I don't know how they get the entire piece in without taking the whole front end of the truck apart.
