First, I know: this is the Dodge Forum, Dakota section. (I did use to mod here, as some might remember).
Anyways, the other day I traded in my Toyota on a '12 Jetta TDI.

Since I have a diesel now, and I know very little or nothing about them, I was wondering if anyone on here has links to any view-able/downloadable books, webpages, etc on diesel engines.
Just wanna learn about them.

(I still have the Dakota, of course. Couldn't ever bring myself to trade it in, too much blood, sweat, and money in it!)

i want one of these things. I had a industrial tech teacher in high school who had one and the thing got 55 or so miles to the gallon, who needs a prius

 

No kidding. I despise the Prius. My 30 year old honda with well over 200k still gets 55 mpg, and if I did some aero mods I could do better. Although I'm sure the Prius has luxuries mine does not. But you'd think in 30 years the technology would be there to reach much higher mpg than my beater. Good looking car dodgerules86.

 

Well, they do, kinda, I think.
The newer cars have more luxuries, as well as more safety features. (Think: ABS, airbags, air conditioning is more prevalent, power steering.)
The same models have grown in size. Compare a 2011 Camry to a mid-1990's Camry. (Compare a 2011 Corolla to a mid-1990s Camry, they seem to be, from the outside, the same size pretty much)
The econo-cars of today are just built safer than the ones of yester-year. I had a 1986 Honda CRX - the thing had plastic fenders, and I'm sure the doors were made of 2-ply aluminum foil. (And got less MPGs than that TDI I just bought! Actually, it got only slightly better MPGs than the 2009 Corolla I had)
