Default Ambient temp sensor location

Start with Im new to the site but not to forums so I did search. I just bought a 94 Dakota ex cab 4x4 129k sweetheart of a truck picked it up from the original 90 year old owner. Anywho the compass/thermometer reads the direction fine but the thermometer reads OC which I understand means open circuit. My question is where is the damn sensor located on this truck I know it's somewhere up by the grille/bumper. help would be great. It's literally the only thing that doesn't work on the truck.

thanks in advance.

Here is a copy and paste of the service manual we have to download for free in the FAQ.

The sensor is mounted at
the center of the vehicle on the support brace, behind
the grille (Fig. 1).
