Default Tranny Problems??

Hey guys my friend has a 93 dakota 318 with a 46rh tranny. And it was slipping and we changed the fluid and filter and the fluid was black and about at thick as maple syrup.... so we changed that and it worked great, also adjusted the bands. Now about 5 days later it keeps driving and then revs up at about 1500rpm as if you pushed in the clutch on a manual car. Also there is a loud rattle/grind sound coming from the front of the tranny near the TC. Has anyone else ever experienced this or know what it may be? Also it will go good in reverse and shifts great when it goes but it will sometimes engage and sometimes it wont... Any help is nice thanks guys!

You may to remove the transmission pan and inspect the insides, Maybe the band is too tight or the governor has debris in the valves causing the transmission not to upshift.

you only changed about 3 quarts of maple syurp there is still about another 6 quarts+ in the tranny that needs to be changed by flushing it.

+1 kahanabob. The sound from the front sounds like the oil pump is weak also.
