Honestly, you are probably better of with the stock cold air airbox. You can buy the spectra kit and make a smooth cold air induction if you want. Definitely better than a hot air open element breather. My truck has an open element because that's what it came with. I wish I had the stock box.

 

i just turned the lid on my air cleaner upside down it ceates about a 1 inch opening all around the top..................
