Little truck, big problems
Im new to the forum. Thanks for lettin me on. Love Dodge, wont buy anything else.
Got a 93' Dakota 5.2L V8 (318) 2wd. Started idling strange 600rpm jumps to 1100rpm and back to 600 (repeat) when in park. In gear idles high, and will die after a few blocks, acting like its flooded. I can start it by stompin the gas, then it'll leave rubber on the road for the next 50 yards until i get my foot out of it. My initial guess is the TPS.
What do ya'll think?

Welcome to DF
I'm going to move your post to the 1st gen dakota. There could a few problems. Throttle body injector( If you have throttle body injection), o2 sensor , vacuum leak or TPS. But these are only guess's.

This morning In addition to the idle issue, the fuel gauge seems to be "ticking" (for the lack of better terms). Part of the problem? or seperate issue alltogether? BTW, thanks Guys.
Testing the intake manifold plenum gasket.....
Engine idling in park...
pull the PCV valve from the valve cover, leave it on the hose, let it dangle somewhere.
pull the crankcase breather from the other valve cover, let it dangle.
place the palms of your hands over the 2 holes and seal them for a few seconds, then lift one and determine which way the air flows...
The crankcase operates under a slight pressure. Air should move OUT...if it moves IN, the plenum gasket is leaking and air is moving directly from the crankcase to the intake maniold, bypassing the throttle body...
Pray it isn't the plenum gasket, its an all day job....
