I'm doing the nv3500 trans swap on my 92 Dakota 5.2. Ive read 95 318SLT's thread on how to do the swap but what I need to know is can I use my factory flywheel with the nv3500?
By the way, the nv3500 came out of a 93 Dakota 3.9 with 77k

 

No, flywheels and flexplates are completely different.

And 3.9s did not come with NV3500s until 2000, you likely have an AX-15.

 

Well if that is the case, will the ax15 fit on my 5.2?

 

Yes it will but Dodge didn't put it behind the V8 for a reason. That reason is it will not last long.

 

Well I'm not going to be doing any serious off roading, just commuting back and forth to work

 

And I still Need to figure out if I can use my flywheel with the ax 15.

 

you have to get a v8 flywheel and the nv3500's also came behind the the ram v6's starting around '96(mine came out of a 96' ram with 125k on the clock)

 

Again, autos use flexplates, manuals use flywheels, they're completely different.
