Default EGR delete?

Is is possible to remove the EGR components without any negative effects? Finally found an M1 but is a non EGR for a good price, really good price. Did some searching and not much was found on the topic.

Just leave the module thing plugged in and plug its vacuum ports. You'll get the occaisional check engine light and every once in a while (once every couple weeks?) I'd get a backfire through the intake, but since my original plan when I got the non-EGR M1 was to run it on Megasquirt, it no longer backfires because the tune has nothing to do with EGR anymore.
