Default my 1996 dodge dakota wont go in reverse

i have a 1996 dodge dakota automatic that will not go in reverse. it is as if it were in neutral. but it drives just fine any suggestions

Possibly bad or low fluid, or miss adjusted bands. But most likely you need a complete rebuild.

take a look at the shifting linkage down under on the drivers side. there is a rod that goes from the motor side to the body side and is held in place with nylon keepers. they go bad, one of mine fell out and the linkage seperated and did not shift at all. might be an issue there??????????

the truck drives fine, so im assuming that you got forward drive DaKOTA MAN000? if so, then the shifting linkage will not be the issue kahanabob

would also suggest checking the filter. when my old one clogged up i slowly lost each gear till i only had 1st and 2nd left...

OD was first to go? If so, did you get a code 45 with that? Code 45 is the OD solenoid
