Truck won't start. Lots of symptoms
1993 Dodge Dakota V6 4x4
no aftermarket engine parts.
Here's the rundown: Engine cranks strong, battery reads a healthy 14.xx Volts, all fuses good. Fuel pump turns on. No Spark. Ignition fuse gets a healthy reading from the multimeter, the ignition coil is not receiving any electricity. Checked the corroded soldered wire problem that was mentioned in the FAQ section. checked both sides of the solder on all wires and they all had electricity. The fuel injection is not getting power, we got no reaction when the engine was being cranked. there is no obvious wires chewed through or melted. we checked any inline fuse connections we saw and all the fuses were good.
I might be forgetting some things, as I've tried a lot.
and to make it all better, its broken down in a parking lot a mile away. not that far but still very inconvenient. I have a friend who has a computer that can check for codes and whatnot, but I might not be able to get that assistance any time soon.
help please?

even if you are getting power on both sides of that junction you may need to resolder it. when i got mine fixed up the junction was completely corroded out. kinda stupid imo to have the plugs AND the fuel pump/injectors powered from one junction....
happy new years all. well I soldered in a new wire in place of those old splices, still nothing. But, I found a wire dead end, that has electricity and doesn't seem to be connected to anything. maybe this is the problem? here's the pic, its the black connection tube in the middle of the picture. I couldn't seem to locate the other end. it was pretty dark outside, and that could be the problem, but does anyone know what this wire is or where it is supposed to connect?
Their could be a number of things causing your problem. I have a 92 Dakota the's teaching me alot about the ignition system. If you deffinatly have no spark , that is controlled by the computer, but the computer needs input from diffrent things to fire that coil. Things I would check are (ASR) auto shutdown relay, if that dosn't get a signal from the tack that says the motor is running , it shuts down the fuel pump, and the ignition system. Then I would check the crank case position sensor, if the computer dosn't get a signal from that no spark, kicks out the ASR . Next thing you could check is the distributer pick up sensor, again no signal no spark. Hope this helps.
I forgot to mention that you can check for codes simply by turning the ignition switch on and off 3 times and back on. Not starting just on and off. The check ingine lite will blink certain times for certain codes.
Thanks MelB, I'll check that out. Also when you say on and off three times, do you mean just one click on? Or the full 2 clicks on?
