Default Plenum Gasket Issues

I replaced the plenum gasket on my 95 318 mag with the Hughes engine kit this last weekend. It still smokes though and smells like burning oil. I checked my oil today and was down a little less than 2 quarts. Some of this may have been that it didn't get filled all the way after the oil change on Sunday morning (2am). My question is why is my exhaust still smelling like oil and my engine still idling rough?

You may need to burn off excess that is hanging around in the pipes ect. I say wait a few days of mid-long driving to see if it clears up.

If not you may have a bad head gasket.

Well half of it is what you did to remove the intake, so remove all the top end and all the accessories followed by the intake. Then remove all the rockers and push rods, don't mix them up. Then unbolt the heads, it is best since the heads are off to take it a machine shop and have the heads and valves checked for problems.

Then re-install it all. The heads need to be torqued properly and the rockers need to be adjusted properly. There is the service manual in the FAQ that will have all the details with illustrations.

Like Crazy says, first drive the truck and see if the oil smell clears up. It will likely take awhile for it to all burn off.

Well its been a few weeks since i replaced the plenum gasket and the truck still smokes and it is still burning oil and seems to be consuming a little bit of antifreeze. Im looking at getting the head gasket kit from Hughes Engine.

http://www.hughesengines.com/Index/p...=&partid=23962

Is this a good kit and/or are there better ones for close to same price?
All help is greatly appreciated.
