Default Transfer case upgrade

I have the NP231 in my 95 SLT 318. What other transfer case would bolt on and be more rugged? Would a tcase off a full size ram 2500 fit onto my transmission?

The NV231 in good working condition is plenty strong. It comes behind the 1500 Rams and Jeep Wranglers and Grand Cherokees and some Cherokees. My NV231 has taken quite a bit of abuse and still running hard.

But yes the NV241 is possible. If I remember you need to swap out the input shaft. There was a NV231 to NV242 (AWD version of NV241) swap link in the FAQ2.

If I were you I would search the 2nd Generation Ram section. Post up what you find.

ive never read a bad thing about the 231. i would leave it in there. more than adeqaute unless you got 500 horsepower or something but if that were the situation you would need a different tranny and axles also

Just like anything that is worn or in bad condition it can be easily destroyed. Get it professionally rebuilt with quality parts and it will last.
