Default Couple Quick Questions...

So I am thinking that the computer may be what has been causing several issues with my truck: no overdrive, no cruise control, and when having the truck put on a code reader at O'Reily's they couldn't get any signal, so my question was if I were to get a new computer would I get one for the original truck: 1992 Dodge Dakota 318 Magnum, or one for the current engine/transmission setup: 1994 Ram 1500 360 Magnum?

And a second unrelated question, would it be possible to get an AWD Tranny for the Dakota that bolted up to the 360?
Thanks.

No OD and No Cruise Control sounds like a bad Speed Sensor.

If your truck is running most likely it is working just fine. But if you think it is the PCM then replace it, 92-93 5.2 Dakota will be best. But any 5.2 92-95 Ram/Dakota will work. For more power a 5.9 PCM 93-95 or even better get a Mopar High Per. PCM.

I'm assuming you have a 4wd since you want to do a AWD conversion, since you didn't say. I don't know. ALWAYS post up all info.
You will have to get a Trasfercase that is AWD, your transmission will be just fine. There is a good write up on that exact swap in the FAQ2.

If you got 2wd you will have to convert to 4wd which I did a good write up in the FAQ2, then do the transfercase swap.

The engine is a 5.9L 360 from a 94 1500 with the transmission to match, yes 4wd. I changed the Vehicle Speed Sensor located on the side of the transmission but that did nothing to fix the problem. I thought it was possible the overdrive solenoid or the PCM.

Have you checked fuses? Sounds too simple to be true, but I wanna say my OD didn't work at first cause the fuse.

I'm going to go back through and check all the fuses but the last time I went through them they were all fine and I was still having this problem. I'll let you know what I find

So the Ram is 4wd or your Dakota is 4wd? Both?

Did you test your wiring make sure the signal is getting to and from the PCM?
