I am not sure but does Autozone sell bolt on cylinders? Cause you need two, a right and a left!

No j/k. Get on Jegs, get a nice street cam that will put your power band into some higher RPMs if thats where you want the power. Open her up and let her breathe!

its hard to gain performance and keep fuel mileage

LOL Good one.

Cam if there is one for the LA. Headers if there is one for the LA. Larger exhaust pipes. Larger fuel injectors.

As for best bang for the buck is going to be a complete rebuild with lots of machining work like decking the heads and block, oversize pistons. Port and polish the heads and intake if anything at least gasket match the intake and heads. Boar out the throttle body.

You could also lower the rear end gears.

Turbocharge it or Nitrous.

The truck should already have something like 3.92s in it shouldnt it?

What rear end gear does your truck have now?

so basically what your saying is get some better fuel injectors, better heads (im pretty sure 92-93 magnum manifolds will fit), could i get a v8 TB and probably a home brew CAI. then swap out the rear end with a 4.10?

Yes bigger fuel injectors will help, but can the stock TBI PCM handle them I'm not to sure.

Yes you could even do Magnum heads but with the LA block it is not worth it.

As for the V8 Throttle body, I don't know what the differences between the V6 TBI and V8 TBI is. Maybe it will work.

Sure do a good CAI.

4.10 is great for launches bad for freeway with street tires.

If your really set on not dropping in a V8 and keeping a V6 then I would suggest to drop in a Magnum 3.9 V6 compete. Even if you do all upgrades said in this post your still dealing with a stock TBI PCM that was doesn't have the best MPG + performance. The Magnum PCM has enough adaptability to compensate for upgrades and get the most out of them.

From what has been said the Magnum block will drop right in. If you get a complete engine/wiring the swap will be simple. All the engine control wiring is under the hood.

No it just sounds like you need to get away from the V6 and get a V8.

Engine, probably trans, driveshaft. Could look and make sure you are running a good gear set, I really think you are prolly around a 3.92. Let us know what you are running.

But if you want to go fast I would say get a car as well. Or get a car for fuel mileage and rod out the truck! Either way.

Low and slow has its place too!
