Default 1993 Dakota 4wd

I found a 1993 4wd extended cab with a auto and i think it is a LE. It's at a car lot for $1995.00. The white paint is peeling, missing center caps on the wheels. What should i look for etc if i go and talk to them? I have a 1998 nissan frountier 2wd 5 speed and someone i know asked if i want to sale it. thanks

jack it up and check ball joints. check for a rattle at the front of the engine meaning the timing chain/gears are shot. check both front/rear axle shafts for leaking outer seals. check tranny/tcase junction for leaking seals. check rear of the motor for leaks of the rear main. if you notice any or all of these things you should probly avoid it unless you got alot of time on your hands and a fair amount of money. shop rates are like $90/hour so keep that in mind also. make sure tires have alot of tread left. probly alot more things to look for but this is just a few. worn out pile of crap is the last thing you want to buy and alot of times them older trucks are worn out and ready for the junk yard but people try to sell them to unsuspecting customers
