Default long single driveshaft, factory

bought one on CL, it was a single in the pic, so I assumed it was for the 112" wheelbase..... drove about 30 miles to get it, turns out it is for the club/quad cab trucks. Price was good, so I bought it anyway.
Makes me wonder, what might be the reason Dodge used the 2 piece in the first place....?
Good to know, tho, that if you want to, the 2wd trucks can use a one piece driveshaft...

i know atleast some of the clubcabs had single rear shafts from the factory. mines a stock aluminum one piece on clubcab. these trucks arent long enough to warrant a 2 piece shaft and only adds extra parts that wear out and break.
