mopar pcm vs jet stage 2 / towing
which would provide more gain? 95 5.2 dakota 5 speed 4x4.. tow a boat once / twice a week in the summer.. heard mopar pcm not recommended for towing, anyone try to? obd 1 so severely limited in this area
The Mopar High Performance PCM is the best. What is even better is to get the Mopar HP PCM for a 94-95 Ram 5.9. The 5.9 PCM will help the 5.2, simple plug and play.

Jet chip modules for our trucks suck. They are known to catch on fire, which is what happened to me and melted my PCM plug. For some reason it works good on V6's just not V8's
The best thing to do along with the HP PCM is to do a full tune up all fluids including brakes diffs transmission ect all filters. Cap and rotor, plugs Autolite 3923 are best ask for them by part number. Plug wires. 180 Deg. Thermostat will help too. Also make sure you got great brakes.

sorta what i was thinking...even though I have heard a few positive review about the jet chip, I too had a bad experience with them...
5.9 mopar pcm for a 5.2 the way to go? no headaches involved? am hoping doesn't effect me too much when I tow..seen people tow with it..bigger boat that what I have and automatic.
Does it include what mods it supports? I eventually want to do cam , heads, etc

Yup no headaches involved. The only thing about using a Rams pcm in a Dakota is that the Rams had a transmission oil temp sensor when the Dakotas didn't. So the PCM will set a soft code (No check engine light) and it is a very easy fix. Here is my post on it, only costs $1. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...omputer-2.html
The PCM will adjust accordingly to what the engine will need to maintain proper fuel to air ratio. Any thing short of superchargers and turbos will be fine with the Mopar PCM.
