Default Help picking HID lights please

I have a 95 Dakota and I bought some of them silver bulbs on the autozone shelf for my truck about 4-5 months ago and they really suck!

Can someone help me pick out an HID kit, my bulbs are bi, so do I need bi-xenon HID?

I want some long lasting, help me pick please! not too expensive though(100+), I'm poor.

I want 8000k I think, just something bright enough for the dark mountain roads.. but not some stupid color

Stay with 4500k or 5000k for light color close to white.

Thanks for the reply.

On that website, too many options!

Do I want 9004/HB1 Hi/Lo Beam? Composite says 9004, but "Sealed Beam" says H4666.
Do I want the Harness?
Do I need "Error Eliminator"? It says "NOTE: Certain vehicles will require these to run HID';s properly. ex. Dodges (except Ram), "
Do I need the "H1/H7 to 9006" adapter cable?

You can use either of the 9004 types, just depends whether you still want high/low beams. You don't want the H4666 that's for the older trucks with sealed beam headlights.

Harness probably wouldn't be a bad plan as it will draw power from the battery instead of through the stock wiring.

You don't need the error eliminator or the adapter cable.

Ok, it's ordered, total $106.19. With $17 shipping it better be 2 day shipping!

im a tad late on this thread but beware that if you plug it in and doesn't work you may need to sway the pins in the adapter plugs that come in the kit (by default most are set up for 9007 with has the low and the ground wires swapped in different places than the 9004). if you want lows only the the bulbs ballasts and connectors are all you need. i highly reccomend either adding a relay on your own or getting the relay harness though. they use less current (amps) than halogens but they pull big time at startup and it also helps to stabilize the output (fickering). i have 6k in myne (both before and after doing the projector retro) and that is a tad blue for me but the output is really nice. higher than 6k and it starts to turn blue then purple. the higher temp color (kevin rating) does not mean brighter. the light output is diminished with the higher kelvin ratings. 3k is yellow (fogs), 4300 is stock (i've seen some with as high as 5k though), and 6k is sunlight. you don't need the error eliminator with your truck. skip the capacitor aswell. addequite wiring will support the current needed easily. for warnings now. with the reflectors you will have increased glare. it was very very bad for myne wich is why i put projectors in it.
from expierence the hid drop in bulbs will leave you wanting more. and there is no way to compare the difference between projectors and reflectors. should you decide later to go with projectors it isn't hard but takes some effort (sanding the lense mainlly) to make it work right.
i've done the projector retro twice now and i loved it even when i was using low beam only with halogen h7 bulbs.

HID Kit installed. Low and high beams are working.

I didn't mount anything because I'm lazy.

I might move the wires that are going to the other side, going to see if they get really hot where they are right now.

A LOT better than the original 9004 bulbs. I replaced the regular bulbs before with the silver bright light at autozone and it still only let me see about 5 foot on the road.

These were taken about 10:15 PM, pitch black out.

Can this wire sleeve melt from the radiator hose if I leave it here?
