Default 92 Dakota v6 5spd won't crank over

So this morning it decided to not crank over, or click, or make any noise whatsoever when I turn the ignition key. However it will bump start in a flash, I can roll it and dump clutch in first and it fires right up and drives normal, charges, etc. etc. (radio came on, lights work, battery has 12.8v)

I check voltage at the starter leads and I have 12v there too, could it be the relay or ignition switch, or the starter? thanks for your help.

do you experience any loss in power when you turn the key?
Seeing that the starter's power comes straight from the battery it would likely be similar to the issue i was having the past few days. the solution for me was to do a nice cleaning of the battery terminals and connectors. another probable cause could be the wiring that leads from the PDC to the starter

Default ignition switch

hey guys you might want to take a look into checking your ignition because my truck has the same problem and its automatic and in the ignition there is this little roller that makes contact for the ignition and to test if that is it turn the key to ignition on and put your foot on the break and get into neutral (for automatic) and then turn the key over thats about all i know

Check your clutch switch too.

If that's not completing the circuit, there will be no power given to the starter.

Question

well yesterday i went to oriellys and they tried swapping around my ac relay and the starter relay. no luck... then later i notice my ac stopped working, so i put in new relays and nothing changes. then today it would start normal, and the ac worked. then later today, neither work... im so frustrated i cant see straight... Im assuming its not the relays now. also, at one point today, the ac worked but the starter would not???? as of now neither work. ((((((((

help

thanks

Possibly the notorious splice that feeds the relays. Check the FAQ for a write up. Also possible the battery connections or connector to the starter or grounds are bad/dirty/loose. Check them all, clean and tighten anyways.

on the 92, this splice should be on the drivers side, behind the battery area, along the fender?
