Complete Brake Job - Need Pad, Rotor & Caliper Recommendation Please
Just bought a 1993 Dakota. It's been sitting for over a year. I took it to a Good year auto center just to see what they find.
They said I will need pads, rotors, calipers and they need to repack bearings.
What pads, rotors and calipers have worked for you guys?
I was a little confused on ordering calipers, Rockauto gave me the option of Semi-Loaded Caliper or Loaded Calipers....can anyone explain?
Oh and they wanted $950 for the brake job.....lol.

semi loaded, idk... loaded usually means with pads.
Goodyear is always ridiculous, they quoted my friend 850 for brakes on his grand Cherokee... When it comes to rotors, wagners have always done well for me. Calipers, A1 cardone remanufactureds are usually good quality. And for pads, honestly it isn't a race car or a heavy duty hauler rig, anything will probably do, but go ceramic if you want fade resistance, minimal dust, and good wear.
As for bearings, get some new ones and try to find the old heavy duty thick brownish wheel bearing grease. The new "red tacky" lube is meant for the newer stuff. It'll work, but the old stuff works better. If you can't find it in a tub look for either big truck grease, or perhaps in the grease gun tubes.

Now there is a way to keep your hands clean! I will keep this in mind next time I need to repack bearings.
