Default Park/Neutral. Difference?

So I'm just curious as to what the difference is between Park and Neutral on the Automatic transmissions.
I know my RPMs change depending on which one I'm sitting in while stopped.

But what I'd like to know is
What is engaged/disengaged when I switch from Park and Neutral?

The only thing I can think of is the transmission fluid pump does not run in park but does in neutral IIRC.
