I think this is the Dakota section. I had a problem with my igntion switch but ended up just wireing a start switch in. The key would ulock the wheel and put it to run and then hit my newy installed back yard mechanic switch. Worked fine. Though not fancy. great theft deterent!

My step-dad did a similar thing on his Civic (which he than gave to me). Flip a switch up (to send power to everything) and push the button in to send power to the starter. Didn't look great, but hey, got the job done.

I know that sometimes installing new ignition swtiches can be a pain.

The switch is under the dash. Remove the panel under the column and the two column bolts. You should be able to reach the switch. If not take the three bolts out of the floor mount at the bottom and drop it on the floor.

my trucks at the dealer now for the same thing right now, 16 bucks cdn. for the part they say wears out and less than an hours labour, was gonna do it myself but need the torx bit with the pin in the middle to remove the ignition, other option was the push button start, but under 100 bucks (hopefully) ant too bad a deal
