Needed 1995 Dodge Dakota Rear End - 8.25"
Hello,
I have a 1995 Dodge Dakota Sport 5.2L with 2WD. This truck has the standard 3.55 gears right now. As I am an engineer by trade and like to tinker, at a certain point in the future, I would like to try and put 4.56 gears in my vehicle.
My plan would be to buy an old 8.25" rear end, gears and install kit. I would do the install over a few days on my work bench and then swap the entire rear end for the existing one.
This way, if something goes, wrong I can swap the old 3.55" back in.
Anyone know where I can locate a used chrysler 8.25" rear end for one of these trucks? I would prefer not to have to weld new spring perches and hangers to a different model. I live near Montreal and there's slim pickins for these trucks here. Anyplace on the internet that ships or in Northern Vermont, Northern upstate New York would be appreciated.
There is a forwarding company near Champlain New York that I can send it to if need be. However, these suckers are heavy and I think shipping long distances will not be cheap. Trying to minimize costs wherever possible.

For a 100% direct swap will have to be a 1991-1996 Dodge Dakota 2wd.
