5.2l Engine on CL, what do you think?
Ever since i came here and saw that the V8s tend to get slightly better MPG and that they are fairly easy to swap out ive been thinking of getting one.
So i was browsing Craigslist for my area today and i found a posting for an entire 5.2L setup. Its got the motor, exhaust manifolds, all the electrical (incuding the ECU) AND the Transmission, With 155K miles, for $500
http://spokane.craigslist.org/pts/3012430307.html
Im not that into prices for things in the auto business but that seems like a pretty good deal to me.
What do you guys think?
Also, one other question i would have is, Ive seen in the faq about motor swaps that the V8s didnt come with manual trannys, and that you shouldnt use a manual with the V8. I know the argument is that the manual transmission from the Dak isnt strong enough for the V8, but my question is Why? The manual that is in my truck is still the original tranny, and im sure its been through quite alot. but apart from not wanting to shift into reverse sometimes it still works great, and id really like to keep it in there. So id like to know your thoughts on that as well.
Thanks guys

That is a good deal for it all if it it is complete and it runs good and no major work that needs to be done. I say go for it!
Since the ad says its a 4wd. Is yours 4wd or 2wd?
As far as your comment on manuals not being strong enough, I'm thinking your misunderstanding what is said.
The Auto and manuals that come behind the V6's and 4clys are not strong enough for the V8, they will bolt up but may not last long. Dodge didn't put them behind the V8's for a reason.
The V8's did come with manual transmissions 94-up. 5.2 Magnum mostly had NV3500. The 5.9 Magnum came with the NV4500.

I was under the impression that the V6 Magnum came with the NV3500 for the manual tranny (thought i read that in the faq somewhere) but i guess maybe not......

Since yours is a 4wd that is the best deal ever. Just a simple drop in since it is all complete.
