Default hitch installation

just got a new hitch for my dakota but 1 of the 6 bolt holes don't line up, think any issues by leaving it out? don't wish to drill hitch or the frame

Personally, no, I wouldn't leave it out. I bought a hitch that needed drilling, so I drilled 4 17/32 holes and immediately primed and painted them to prevent any rust. On the same note, if its a bolt on hitch, drill the hitch not the frame, if you can.

I would recommend drilling it out to fit. The stronger the better.

just not crazy about the idea of drilling a brand new hitch.. I don't think I was given grade 8 hardware, was at least going to upgrade that..may have to dill it though..my old hitch had 8 mounting holes this one has 6

Why don't you want to drill on the hitch? Are you worried about the resale value of the hitch?
It is a safety issue. Just match the bolt location and be done with it.
Or return it and get another one maybe another brand.

trust me I'd return it if I could..charged me $70 shipping plus I would have to pay to return ship it.. only bought because only manufacturer I could find that made a hidden style hitch on my truck.. as much as I don't want to don't think I don't have any choice but to drill it
