LED Tail,Turn Lights
Im trying to get as much information on the 12volt automotive LED bulbs. I seen a article awhile back on the Scat Dak project where they upgraded the headlights BUT at the end of the article there was a comparison on the brightnes of the different LED bulbs. Ive searched for the article again but I cant find it anywhere. Im trying to find out which brand of LED bulbs to use on my truck and I want something that is bright but not going to break my wallet. I have my tail lights and third brake light tinted and want a bright led to use so it will show up better during the day. If you guys have any links to some information or have upgraded your bulbs to LED let me know what your opinion is. Thanks for any and all help in advance.
I believe this link has be posted before, but there are pre-assembled LED lights in housings it is a simple swap. Just get the replacement part numbers for our bulbs at www.autozone.com and find the replacement at the other site. Also www.ebay.com has tons listed.

I've been wanting to build up a list of the bulbs so I can buy all LED replacements too.

Thanks crazy I know for the rear you will need 2 2057 for the brake/turn, 2 1156 for the backup and im not sure about the 3rd brake light. For the fron you will need 2 2057 amber for the park/turn and 2 194 amber for side marker.
Just a little update. Today I bought a set of led taillight bulbs from orielly's. As you all know from my signature I have tinted tails and wanted a brighter bulb so you can see them better. Well I compared the led to the stock bulb and they were the same. The only difference was the led turned on and off faster. I then bought a set of silver star bulbs and they are by far brighter then anything ive tried so far. If I find something brighter ill be sure to update. Oh and the silver star bulbs were half the price of the led.
If you want Bright LEDs you might check out V-LEDs.com . their stuff is expensive but sometimes they have the good ones on sale. I replaced my rears with a set i bought off ebay almost 2 years ago. i just replaced my front light housings so i bought all new LEDs for the front to go with them:

ive got a video of them in action ive been meaning to upload......

Also, another thing with LED signal lights, you will have to change your flasher. If you get an electronic 552 equivalent it will save you from having to buy load resistors (since LEDs draw alot less current then incandescent bulbs)

You have to do that on the newer cars because the computer tells the dash a bulb is out and can even disable some of the more luxury . The older obd1 vehicles dont have any trouble other than if you only change the rear and not the front because the led blinks faster and the is what the relay is for.
My problem that im having is my tails are tinted and I want a very bright bulb so you can see them better. If I used the on the clear lens then there super bright. So I bought the silver star clear bulbs and they are the brightest ive found for the dark tinted tails so far.

i then had a normal 552 until i did the front LEDs, since it did the same thing when all four went LED. i got an electronic flasher and didn't need any load resistors. its actually different on most newer cars now (since alot of them are coming with LEDs from the factory)
