Air Cleaners
The round stock Air cleaner is 3 inches tall and around 31.5 around giving about 95 sq in cleaning surface.
With the cold air up front it filled up with debris and the foam wrap is long gone
I was going to convert to the later remote Air filter but found a chevy truck in the yard with a K&N 3.5 x 38 inches around 133 sq in cleaning area
hood clears
I had to remove the stock hold down bolt and replace with the next size longer carriage bolt and a couple of washers under the nut as the bolt I had had a longer square than stock so the nut would bottom on the square and not tighten up leading to a floppy stud making a pita to get it through the lid problem-

The chevy is a closed steel housing very similar to stock except bigger
air inlet goes toward Rt wheelwell like stock
base is indexed so housing only fits one way- lucky it's the best way
breather is on the wrong side so a longer hose is required
Yesterday was replace the alternator brushes, today battery, the truck would not idle so swapped computer from 94 ram to 93 Dakota stock 92 Dakota brain died a long time ago and DC computer pings even on premium.
no codes, had an alternator code (stator) which went away with the brushes
bad cell in the 2005 battery was a "gotcha" bonus
