This morning my truck made a popping sound, sounded like it was coming thru the exhuast approximately 5 or 6 times then it died. tried one time to restart it and sounded different, like no compression, no fluids on the road, code 55 any ideas. 92 dakota V6 3.9 auto, 2WD please help.

 

Sounds like your timing chain stretched and skipped or snapped.

 

I also have a 92 3.9 and mine did almost the same cept it just died.I replaced the timing gears n chain and now have no spark..???
