Are you saying you have $1000 a month to spend or $1000 a month to live and play? The best bang for your buck will be to save up and do the v8 swap. You will spend more on a v6 trying to get v8 power then just dropping in a 5.2 or 5.9

that is if you can find a 5.2 or 5.9
but yes you can get more out of the V8s, especially since you can actually get a mopar performance PCM for it. For some reason they only made 200 performance PCMs for the V6s

I might actually ask you to locate an engine if my local yard doesnt have a junked one...seeing as i could pick it up since im only a state away and a running engine is preferred to a junked one. Availability is pretty scarce in some areas..and plentiful in others. You and Crazy have good yards with plentiful parts that havnt yet been bone picked like buzzards on fresh kill. Around my area there is slim to no good mopar used stuff :/

But as to your budget Dbd, is it total for live and play? or is that just play? If you want to swap in a V8 your ballpark will most likely be around $900-$2500 depending on what you can find in junk yards and get good deals on, want to do with the engine regarding performance, getting your transmission rebuilt to handle the power, or if you need to rebuild the motor theres always that can of worms as well.

I'd say look over the FAQ's to get some ideas or find one you like so you can make a plan for what you want to do with your truck. Once you got that then you got a good bunch of info in the forums to help you along the way and good guys to answer questions that arnt listed.

What are your expectations for hp and torque? What will the truck be used for(towing, daily driver, street/strip)? Are you worried about gas mileage? There are several factors to think about and then plan a build that will work best for you and your needs. Once you decide on wich way you want to go post your decision and we all will help with questions and advice. But at the end of the day do what you want to do and you will be that much happier with your truck.

i would also like to point out that if your truck is a manual tranny, you will need to find the v8 with a tranny w/transfer case from a 94-96 (93 v8's didnt come with a manual)
in this case you will also have to find exhaust manifolds for a 93 v8 (94-96 have smaller exhaust exits)

You can get headers from summit for $200.
