Default Alternator Died.

So I got a check engine light today and when checking the codes seen that the code was for my alternator not charging. I tested it today when I got home and for sure it is not working. Well I do not have $100+ right now to drop on a new alternator so I was wondering if there were any alternators that are from other dakotas or mopars that will work on our motors just in case I can not find one off of a 5.2 when I go to pic n pull this weekend. Like the ones off of smaller motors or such. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My truck is a 1994 dakota with the 5.2 magnum motor

Well I guess to answer my own question and just in case someone in the future ever needs to know, what I seen today when I went to the pick and pull is that the v6 and v8 alternators are interchangeable. You just have to look out for the actual amperage of the alternator. I knew that there was a wrecked 95 dakota at the pick n pull with the v8 and when I got there the alternator was actually 90 amp but the 96 with a v6 had the same part number 120 amp that I had pulled off of my 94 dakota with the 5.2l.

You can always go to www.napaonline.com or www.rockauto.com they list the interchange for parts. For the alternator it would probably be V6 and V8 Magnums 92-03. Rams, Dakotas, Ram Vans, Jeep GC.
