Default A518 trans help

I have a 93 dakota 5.2l with a a518 4 speed. I while back i was driving about 150 miles away and my trans went out so i rebuilt it.

When i took the trans apart all the clutchs and steels burnt to nothing just metal. I rebuilt it with new clutchs, steels, ect... set all the bands to their specs and the kit came with a new park band but not the other band.

After the rebuild the trans pulls great untill it gets hot thin it stops pulling. We changed the solenoid didnt fix it and thin we tightened the bands. The solenoid didnt fix anything the bands helped alittle but didnt fix it.

I can not find another trans to fit my dakota only the A518 fits out of the 92-95 v8 dakotas and it cost $1700 new and $800 for someone to do another rebuild any help.

Yes you got the 46rh which is an A518. The 46rh came behind 92-95 Dakotas with V8's as you stated as well as 92-95 Rams and Ram Vans V8's and some V6's.

sounds like you might need an extra tranny cooler.

I HAD a 93 Dakota clubcab with a 318 and a dead 518; I still have the Dakota and still have the dead tranny too; but I am again driving (the He11 out of) this truck
I solved the tranny problem permanently; I went to the junkyard and got a 3rd pedal, cut a hole in the floor, and now there's a 5 speed shifter sticking thru the floor LOL....the dead 518 is sittin here waiting for time to get to a rebuild, as I have another truck here that needs it
