HELP!! 1989 Dodge Dakota Shelby 15k miles
I need some help. I have an 1989 dodge dakota shelby with ONLY 15k original miles. It was originally taken to the shop for a no start issue. They found out that the hollow point switches and rotor cap was so rusted out that it fried the computer. Now the problem is that they switched out the computer which ended up being a v6 that the shop put in and it runs like crap. The shop got rid of the computer that was in it so it is long gone and we can not find a computer anywhere. Does anyone know where i can get either an aftermarket computer or a stock computer to rebuild it? PLEASE HELP. This truck only has 15k original miles and it would be ashamed to have it go to waste as it is a sentimental truck.
The shop should be responsible for finding the proper computer and pay for it on their expense since it was their mistake. Going to be pretty hard to find a stock replacement other than a dealer, if they even make it anymore or have any in stock across the country.
Yea we have been looking for going on 4 months now. We have a part number but cannot find one anywhere. Is there any aftermarket computer that will work with this truck so we can get it running correctly? I just don't want this truck to go to waste. It was rarely driven and is practically brand new.
Just checked autozone.com they have one listed (took 30 secs to find it). You have to select Dakota Shelby http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...510936_0_7432_
OEM part number 4504 475 Try cross-referencing other parts stores websites.

It shows it as an r and r item only. I thought that stood for rebuild and return which means they rebuild yours and return it? I would be ok with that but the original is long gone. The shop we took it to is saying a v6 computer is what came out of it haha. We are the original owners and have had it since day 1.
Hollow point switches? HUH? been working on Dodge products for over 30 years and never heard of.
and cap and rotor "so corroded that it fried the computer"? sounds like a cover up for not finding the real issue off the bat..... you should have seen the cap that came off the '98 that I worked on yesterday.... it was one of the worst fried caps I have ever seen. but did not hurt the computer.....
I would be extremely wary of ever letting that place touch anything of mine in the future.....
a real 15K mile Shelby? Wow. Sounds like something I would not mind getting ahold of..... but got no $$$$ to look.
