94 Dakota - Engine Dies While Driving, Restarts in 10 Minutes or Less
#21
if you interrupt the spark, the fuel pump is shut off, if there is no sensation the engine is running or trying to start, the ASD kills the pump after like 2 seconds; so yeah the distributor pickup has alot to do with whether you have spark or not, and the engine does still "heat up" and cool down regardless of outside temp...

I had a similar problem with my 93 V6. It would cut off while driving and fire right back up after sitting for 5-10 minutes. I had fuel pressure at the rail so I didn't feel as though it a fuel issue. I replaced the dist, coil, and crank sensor and still had the issue. Turned out it was the PCM. Hope this helps

He's baaaaaaack...
Recently, I had the coil and the distributor pickup replaced after my last stranding as these were the last two things that have not been replaced. Things were going along OK for 100 miles or so and today as I rolled into my favorite Mexican restaurant for a refreshing margarita or two, it died and I rolled it into a parking spot. I decided not to touch anything. I tried restarting for a couple minutes, nothing.
Two margaritas later (not as long as it should be, maybe 20 min) I get in the truck and it starts fine and I drive the three miles home. I am now officially at a loss, although I have not given up.
Ok, before I send this truck to the knacker man to be turned into glue , I will appeal to you all one more time. I believe I have now replaced everything and checked every wire.
So far:
2 new fuel pumps
1 new computer
1 new crank position sensor
swapped around the relays
Check and confirmed that the wiring harness short issue had been fixed years ago.
1 new distr. pickup
1 new coil
Plus I believe I have been through every wire and connection.
Is it time to try a different computer?
