I actually love mine. Its thick, strong it can take a beating. I can throw heavy concrete slabs in it without any damage and with minimal sound. It is easy to unload anything as it just glides right off, easy to wash. Don't have to worry about gouging my paint in the bed. I'm not in a heavy rain state so rust is not even close of a problem, as others it might be. I can through a sludge hammer in the bed without making a sound, try that with a regular bed even one with a paint on liner it will be loud as heck along with a nasty dent.

Mine doesn't have that middle one but the outer 2 should be there. They just might be plugged. On my 93 they kept plugging up so I stuck old parking brake lines in them which help greatly.

I do see where you come from but the other problem is you cant keep a load to stay in place for your life. Even strapping it down since the bottom has no grip you have to tighten up your straps every now and then. Maybe a rubber mat in a plastic bed liner? I hate them for the reason you don't have which is rust. My wheel wells got ****ed up from the liner.

As for the Tailgate net though I'd say it will look bad especially with a roll pan. But if its all about function over form then by all means go for it.

Just simple tying it down always works for me. Never had a problem with loose cargo. One thing I love about mine is I got cup holders and other pockets in the tailgate plastic liner. It is perfect tool/bolt holder when your working.

Ya I can see how bad the rust can be along with all the leafs and dirt that gets trapped in between. I got several small spots of bare metal with no rust at all on it.

I am taking my plastic bed liner out and putting in a bed rug. This way nothing slides around and it is easy to take out and clean. But if your bed is open than its not wise to use that. I have a hard cover so it will just stay dry.

I will unclog the drains, I personally like my liner and if I was not painting the top edges of my bed black I would have cut the folding edge off the top of the liner.

I think a roll pan and net will look fine, just breaks up the smooth/clean look from the back. I also like it because it's different, you don't see many nets with a roll pan but from behind you will know it's me for sure...plus I'm going to mount the net as flush as possible with the roll pan and back of the bed/taillights I think that is the key right there.
