Default 95 Dakota transmission not shifting

I have a 95 dakota that I was working on to fix a no crank issue.
Replaced the neutral safety switch, now I have no park, neutral or drive.
Is it possible to put the connector on reversed or is there some adjustment that needs to be made.

5.2L 4wd, Automatic

Help...

no the neutral switch has 3 prongs the middle is the neutral safety function and the outer 2 are for teh backup lights. it dont matter which way it goes on right side up upside down all it is is a spring loaded grounding switch.

Thanks, I check the connection.

What would happen if it wasn't connected at all?

The truck shouldn't start in neutral or park if the switch is unplugged. If the truck does start with the switch unplugged then there is an issue in the wiring somewhere or the pcm is bad.

The truck starts fine now after correcting the wiring problem.

It's the transmission that isn't working.

After I start the truck while the sift indicator is in park, it acts like it's in drive.
moving the sift lever has no effect. No park, no neutral, no drive.

Didn't do anything to the Trans except replace the neutral safety switch.

have someone move the shifter while you follow the linkage starting at the firewall and down to the tranny, inspecting the movement and looking for loose connections. got to be a linkage issue....
