Oh, sorry I didn't read your post correctly... you said back of trans and I thought you said back of engine, my fault. The picture shows the vehicle speed sensor, but I don't think that would cause an erratic idle, just speedometer not working or possibly weird shifts.

well it does shift weird along with the sporatic hesitating.

The CEL is not on while the engine is running, correct. Also, there are no codes stored in the computer either. I checked by following the FAQ and watching the CEL light flash the codes.

Well I did find this post on here that talks about similar issues and was fixed by replacing the VSS, so maybe it's worth a shot.

I took the truck to the repair shop this morning to do a check and scan on it. We will see what they say later on today. I am thinking that the VSS has something to do with it for sure. Thanks for the help and that link.

Well the shop cant figure out the problem either. They have been looking at it practically all day. I guess my next thing is to try the VSS otherwise push it off a cliff. Lol!
