ok i have a 1992 dodge dakota (non-magnum) that i am not being able to start. i am semi-decent with workin on cars etc but this one is confusing me like no other... i have voltage to the coil but no voltage past it i have replaced the coil(tried 3 different ones just in case bad from factory. i have replaced the ckp in it i have recently replaced the distributer, i have replaced the asd i am gettin fuel. any ideas? i do have a good ground on the coil i have even tried connecting the spark plug wire directly to the wire that connects coil to the distr. any help is very appreciated.
If you don't have a Magnum engine what do you have? All V6 and V8 92-up were Magnums. The only way your 92 can't have a Magnum is if it is a 4cly Or a Non-Magnum engine was swapped in. The power to the coil is provided by the ASD really. The negative is a specific pluse given by the PCM when cranking. Are you sure you have correct power on the coil?
i am not completely sure it is correct power but i kno it is there what is the actual specified voltage? it is a early model 92 or something it is stock engine it is the 318 it is the non magnum. thanks for replys

Where are you located? Maybe a forum member that lives in your area can help you out?
missoula mt, gonna try a new distributer because from what ive been seeing is that is where the pcm is located i have another 318 distr i can drop in to test that theory.
thanks.
can you put up a pic of your engine? I want to see what it is.
there is nothing in the distributor that can go bad other than a hall effect pickup plate; no advance weights no points etc... changing a distributor for that, is a waste.
could be a corroded cap and rotor even
ok will do i am almost positive it isnt corroded.. not gonna say it isnt faulty tho... i had replaced cap, rotor, plugs, and wires within a month of having problems with it i will go and take pictures now

Yup you do have a Magnum like I stated ALL 92-03 V6 and V8 have Magnum motors, which is a good thing with electronic mulitiport fuel injection.
I doubt your getting spark, I suggest looking at the notorious splices, check the FAQ in this section for a write up, it is a few posts above this one.
