Default Single Stack on a 2.5 gasser, opinions?

And before I get blown up with the classic, "oh stacks are only for diesels", let me tell you this, I don't care. Now then, I have my 90 dakota 2.5 5 speed that I've been working on for a while. As of now, shes got a wooden flatbed, flat back primer job for a future camo scheme, and a modified push bar I installed today. Future plans may include a turbo k engine swap. I'd been thinking a bout the stack idea for a while and wanted to get an outside idea from those other than my classmates. Do you believe if i pulled off a nice job it would look ok? Serious answers only ,no little kid bs please. Thanks

JC

you could pull off a stack much better with that flatbed. I say go for it! As long as you like the way it looks and sounds, who cares what anyone else thinks?

+1 to that. I always thought stacks were a go-together thing with flatbeds. Also you will probably like the sound, as the 2.5 isn't a weed-wacker or a lawn mower -cough cough HONDA cough cough- and actually has some throat in it since its a truck engine. heck my thought on it would be to x pipe it and run dual stacks, if you wanted chrome you can always get Repro-Stacks from the 78' or 79' Lil Red Express Ram Truck. There are alot of ways you can go, and almost all of them would probably look pretty badass honestly.

If it's something you want to do and you like it, run with it. Gives you the bragging rights of saying you did it yourself, that kind of pride is harder to come by nowadays :/

But if you do this, make a write up and take plenty of pictures! We always like getting fresh ideas on the table

If your doing it for performance from that 4cly your not going to gain any. And the sound will still be like a rusted out lawn mower. Not even on a stock V8 would you gain HP. I personally would not like the look, but like said above do what you like, not what others do. If it helps here is a picture of a Lil Red Express Dakota. Plenty more pics on Google.

Thanks for the replies. Ibwasnt expecting a power giqn from my 2.5. It would be more for asthetics. As for the sound I am currently running a thrush glasspack that gives my truck a nice throaty tone. What effect would the stack have on it?

Stacks are awesome, but in my mind they are primarily for diesels. Just a point of interest and different though, rather than the common turn out style pair of stacks, why not a single larger diameter flat top stack with a flapper door like dump trucks use?
I really want an 80's cummins ram, and if I get one, it will be getting a stack like that.

Here's a pic of my truck in her current state, I also did a quick write up called "My Dakota" if anyone wants to take a look. Just as an idea, I'd probably run the stack on the passenger side.

I think certain things done to a vehicle says certain things about it. Stacks on a truck say "Diesel" or "V-8" so I think stacks on a four cylinder is false advertising. There is an S-10 I've seen around here with stacks and a bunch of other **** glued to it which I think looks idiotic. Do what you like. If I worried about what other people thought I wouldn't be driving a turbo-charged mini-van.

Lmao..That's pretty much what it comes down to. straight stacks with flaps on each side, maybe 2inch abouts primered black i think would look pretty snazzy on that truck of yours.
