Default 5.9 Track Times

Hey guys im looking into doing the 5.9 swap on my 95. Before I spend alot on the truck id like to get some feedback from those that have already done the swap and have ran it at the track. So if you have done the 5.9 swap what is your best time at the track? Also include track distance and any upgrades or mods that you have done to the 5.9 . Look forward to the replies and thanks in advance.

15.2 is my best time on a 60* night running '92/'93 exhaust manifolds, true 3" catless exhaust, electric fan, 5.2 PCM with 60 psi of fuel pressure, automatic transmission, 3:55 rear end, and street tires. With all the above plus a new MP timing chain (old one had 3/4" of slop), 52mm throttle body, kegger mod, and on a 100* night my best time was 15.3. I need to run it on another 60* night to see what the 52mm throttle body and kegger mod gained me. I'd really like to crack the 14's.

Fastest time for me was with 2wd, stock 5.9 no upgrades at that point. 1/4 mile: 15.259 @ 85.000 mph. That is at over a mile elevation and probably 90's if not higher temps, at sea level the time would be around 14.2. I will try to find the ticket, its from 10 years ago LOL. Since then I have done tons of performance upgrades and added on more weight on to the truck with the 4wd swap then the SAS.

I got 2 races with 4wd on Youtube. I raced and beat a Dodge Ram Hemi and my Dads 04 Z71, in the low 17's, not bad for 4wd and 33's.

Wow I was really hoping to see some faster times. Those are still pretty good times for a small truck but with my 5.2 my best as of now is 9.7 in the 1/8th mile. That time was before I did the electric fan swap and under drive pulleys. According to the time slips that AJ posted im just as fast with my little 5.2 and dont see much sense in spending $800-$1000 doing the 5.9 swap and adding the 1.7 HS RR'S, and locker for the rear. I was really hoping to see the 5.9 put me under 9.

The first thing you got to remember these are TRUCK's motors which are ment for hauling and towing. They are not stock race motors. The 5.9 Magnum has higher torque then HP to haul and tow.

IMOP the 5.9 is worth every penny spent on including upgrades. But that is me, I don't take it to the track anymore, as I use it as a truck. But I would feel confident enough to take to the track if wanted. The main reason for me why I haven't taken it in a while is the loss of power by the automatic. Which is one reason I got the NV4500 to do a manual swap but I haven't got nothing else at this point. Now days I have a lot more performance parts into her so the engine now is running better than ever.

Well my plans are to get the 5.9, HS 1.7RR'S, 52mm fastman tb, have the 50mm fastman now, upgrade my mp pcm to the 5.9, the powertrax no slip ratchet locker, possible shift kit 47rh and want to keep it since its also going to be a dd, lower 2"-3" front to rear, new shocks, rollpan for weight loss diet lol, b&m hammer shifter, aluminum wheels. Those are the plans if I go through with the build. But at the same time I can add all that stuff minus the 5.9,mp pcm and have the extra time and money saved from those 2 things. My thought is if I add all that stuff to my 5.2 is it going to be the same times with the 5.9? Thats the way things are looking. But then I think about the around town torque I could have with the 5.9 and im asking myself if that little torque gain worth it?
