Default My 93 dakota

Hi. I've been registered on this site for a few months. At first I came to this site to ask for some insight on issues that occured with my truck. Now I get on here atleast every other day to see if I can help anyone else who has been experiencing some of the same issues I've had and to look at some others builds. Now I just want to make a little thread on my truck and the things I've done to make it look better. Will post more soon with some pics.

To anyone who has helped me on this site I really appreciate it, glad to know that there is still some genuine people out there that don't mind taking a little bit of time to help another out.

dak, I love my '93 Dakota! Mine is extended cab, 3.9L V6, automatic - the thing has been about rock solid! It is the BEST vehicle I have ever owned. And, I have had many, being a genuine geezer... I like mine so much, I am considering kind of trying to make it almost factory new as far as paint, interior, etc. My odometer broke at 120,640 miles about 8 years ago, about the only problem I have had actually. Need to get another cluster I guess. Anyway, the forum here has helped me a few times.

Looking forward to pics! I think a lot of us can share that reason for joining and now for staying and posting. Obviously we're all going to have a lot of the same issues and it helps when someone can chime in and help right away. It also makes shopping for these trucks a lot easier knowing what to look for!

Having trouble posting pics... Took them all with my phone transfered to my comp and it keeps saying uploading failed. not giving any specific reason...

The below pic is the only one it will let me upload. the rest are either to big or it just says unable to upload file with no reason given.

First off I wanted to ask if anyone knows what this stain at the top of my windsheild is. I'd imagine it's something from when it was painted last from the previous owner as the paint job looks horrible when you're right up on it and there was overspray all over the trim until I did some sanding and repainted the trip black with some satin rustoleum.

That almost looks like wax instead of paint. Good wax will do that to the trim so gotta be careful not to get it on any platics or rubber on the truck.

No not on the trim. I ment the stain on my windsheild on the glass. It's kind of hard to see in this pic but it looks like maybe it ran because they used something to strip the paint on the roof before they painted it. Nothing has gotten it off didn't know if anyone knew of anything industrial i could get ahold of that might work. If not I might have to throw a rock at it to crack it. Then it can be replaced via insurance... I pay for that for something or possibly get a windsheild decal that says dodge on it. But I don't like those to much.

If it's over spray get an aggressive clay bar and give it a shot. If you've never used clay bar before just Google clay bar and over spray to get some tips and recommendations. I've never used it for over spray before so I can't offer any tips but I know it works.

Never heard of using a clay bar for overspray. Guess i can give it a try but I'm not to sure that it's paint. It looks like oil in a puddle of water as far as the sheen it gives off and the different colors from the sun shining through it. I might go for the rock lol...

Just not to sure of what it is and neither is my dad and he paints homes for a living.

Only guess i can say is they used paint thinner or remover to get something off the roof before they repainted it and it ran down the windsheild. No idea how long it's been there and it does look like from using the windsheild wipers over a period of time it weared off a little bit. unless they tried using those to clean it when it happened and failed.

Oh and you cannot see it from inside the truck
