Alright so i had an intresting idea the other day. I took my arm rest off of my 60/40 bench seat with the idea of making a center consol to bolt up where the arm rest does. However I really want a full center consol that bolts down to the floor. I don't have money right now to go out and buy two bucket seats from a junked newer dakota. so in the mean time i was thinking of bracing the driver seat above where it bolts to the floorboard and then hacking the rest of with a grinder and cutting wheel trying not to touch the upholstery on it so i can then pull that back around and sew it back up. It might not look the best when I'm done without re-upholstering the seat but with the consol inplace you wont see that side of it. I'd still plan on getting the bucket seats in the future. But without having a job and being bored i like doing anything to make my truck better and unique with the least money possible lol.. For the consol I was going to have my dad help me make it out of oak. He built a little one for the hump and it kinda slides under the dash which is nice but it's small and doesn't have a lid or anything (tried to post of pic of it but it wont let me). Some stained oak looks nice in these trucks with the tan interior. After this is we had enough left over I was going to make new dash bezzles with it also have a damn classy truck lol.. But hell who knows might be more work than it's worth right now.

too much work, for <$100 you can get buckets and a console from a JY; around here o to pic n pull on half price day and really get a good deal; they do not care what make/model a given prt comes from, same price

my 94 came stock that way with console and buckets.... I dont have no more I saved that one for my kid and he spurned me by going out and buying a 90 Dodge fullsize; that didnt run when he got it, no less (does now after alot more work than the Dakota needed plus the unnecessary money to license and title another truck, another thing the Dakota already had done.... so I had to sell it due o driveway space; I still have my 93 extended cab though.

I did this on my cutlass. Came out great, and now I have my factory pillow top seats as buckets. I had a full write up with pics when geocities existed, but this link to a tutorial will have to do for now.

Nice. Pretty much same thing i was thinking. I mean my stock seats are pretty mint except for one burn hole i managed to put in them and that's on the center so doing this will take care of that .

So I'm due for an oil change so today I got some oil a new filter and some red engine enamal paint. I've been wanting to paint my valve covers red for about two months because my friend got a 83 f-150 with the inline 300 and painted his valve cover blue and it looks sweet. Also plan to kind of one up his handy work by finding some high heat black paint (i should have some lying around my shed) Planning on painting the lid to my air breather cover red and the base back to black. Going to try and tape off the "dodge magnum" sticker that managed to stay on there for the past 20 years without a single mark on it. cover lid has 2 small rust spots on it so a bit of sanding and I should be good to go and it sounds like it will look nice.

Does anyone know what could be wrong with my 1995 dodge dakota? When i get it started and warmed up and then let off the accelerator it goes really low in rpms and sometimes shuts off. but it will start right up afterwards. Ever since i got it it has idled under 700-900 rpms is that normal?

I can't believe no one else said this! That is a tint strip from the factory. It's like a built in sun visor. Personally I love it. It's in the window so there is no removing it.

As for buckets you could do what I did and all you would need to buy is a second passenger seat. I posted a thread in the general discussion that you can see.

I painted my airhat cover the same emerald green as my truck but then found a cover with the "Dodge Magnum" Sticker on it and swapped too that instead. I also bought a second one and made a dual snorkel airhat.

As for photos I suggest making a photobucket account. It's free. All you need to do is upload your photos to that then post the IMG tags in your posts.

I thought he was talking about the white stuff on the trim at the top.

No Not the tint Its looks like oil in a puddle going down the center of it almost to the bottom. My friends dad told me it's water that got into the safety glass probably from someone pressure washing it.

I painted the air cover lid and base in black then just did the rim on the outside of the lid red. Saved the magnum sticker and it looks sick. To bad It's still a v6. But in rice burner logic It had to add like 15 hp lol... will add pics at some point none on my current phone to put on my laptop and last time i tried to post some it wouldn't let me anyway
