Default Dakota Dually?

I was wondering how hard it is to swap a Twin turbo diesel into a 94 dakota sport and turn it into a dually, if anyone knows anything about it, could you all help me out? i wanna do something to my truck and make it one of a kind, if it's possible and how much roughly it would cost and how much work it would take

your lookin at high dollar and alot of work...you would need an entire diesel drive-line, probably the frame to go with it, all the electronics for it.

Not to be discouraging but there wouldn't really be any dakota left when your done.

This. You would basically need to put your Dakota body on a diesel dually frame.

I have visually seen a Dakota that had dual wheels with some type of fabbed up fender flares. Dunno if it was more for look or function. Don't know any structural details. Also there was a company that used Dakota chassis to make campers and they used tandem axles. I have seen one on the highway once, It was the coolest thing ever.

I know S10 guys have talked about using old Toyota dully axles from mini box trucks etc. as for the turbo diesel swap, as was said a 4BT has been said and done a few times.

look at the frame on your dakota vs a 1 ton dually. Not sure about older trucks, but for the past generation or 2 from the big 3, they all use a fully boxed frame with steel much thicker than the dakota. You could make your dakota a dually, but a frame in good shape still could not handle anything more than a 10000 lb trailer. If you have any decent rust spots, the frame may already be reaching its limits with the stock dakota weight ratings. If you want to tow like a dually, you will have to put the dakota body on a dually frame.

Here is a pic of one that was made. All you really have to do is make sure the pads line up on the leaf springs...........

4bt cummins would definitely be your best bet, lots of frame strengthening or a completely different frame, and lots of $$$$$$$$$$$

Should work out great.
