Default Could This Be Oil Pressure Sending Unit??

Hi everyone!

I'm having a little problem with my '95 SLT oil pressure gauge and oil pressure warning light. First, let me say the engine oil level is normal and the engine does not knock, rattle or make any other low oil pressure-issue noises. However, approx. a week ago when I started the truck, after about 10 seconds, the oil pressure gauge needle is all the way to the left and the oil pressure warning light is on!

Could this be a bad sending unit? If it is, does replacing the sending unit require a special socket as described in the Dodge literature?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Yes it can be a bad oil pressure sending unit. No you don't need the special socket, but it makes it easier. Most autoparts stores will have it, possibly as a rent-a-tool.

Thanks for your confirmation of my diagnosis!

If my auto parts store does not have the special socket, can I use a regular deep well socket?

Thanks again.
