Default Clunking when put driven in 4WD

Hi everyone! This morning I needed to go to work and it had snowed all night and I needed 4WD to drive on the road. I put it into 4WD fine and proceed to back out of my drive way and I didn't make it 2 feet before I hear this clunk noise. I tried other gears (Neutral, 4L) without any luck and still the same clunk when reversing. (I have never really had any trouble with 4WD on this truck before). The clunk noise sould like it is coming from the front drivers side (like a hub is trying to engage). However I think it might be the transfer case, because it has a crack in the case and it leaks a little. (Mabey a loose chain?) I ended up driving it to work in 2WD and slid all over the road. I am in real need of my 4WD so that I won't slid off the road. Has anyone had a similar problem or have any recomendations on what to do at this point? I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

Maybe a bad CAD Central Axle Disconnect on the front axle, check the FAQ in this section for a write up.
